Richard & Laura Holloway

After meeting in Oddbins in 2008, then running a busy independent in Brighton for 6 years, we thought it was about time to start our own business.  Laura's family are all from Stroud, and after years of visiting this pretty, bustling market town (with no wine shop!) we decided to open one.

We opened in 2017 and provide customers with the best, most interesting and diverse selection of wines we can find.  Our range is regularly updated, we import many of our wines direct from small vineyards and list a large selection of organic, biodynamic and natural wines.

We don’t have a particular regional speciality but always try to keep things interesting; so alongside all the classics you will always find wines from the more unusual countries and regions.

It's not just wine though, we also stock around a 100 or so different beers, mostly from the U.K, Germany and Belgium, and also lots of natural ciders from the U.K, France and Spain.  The range changes all the time so pop in for the latest.

We stock over 100 different spirits and liqueurs, including Gins, Rums, Vermouths, and a lot of whisky. We have a good range of Port and Sherry, loads of miniatures, and a wide selection of the best Cuban, Honduran and Nicaraguan cigars.

Simon Taylor

Starman, stunt driver, snake charmer; Simon achieved none of these professions before switching his career to wine in 2012. Simon joined the Stroud Wine Co. team in 2021 and loves nothing more than recommending a great bottle of wine to our customers. Simon holds a WSET Level 3 wine qualification and is also an Associate Judge for the renowned International Wine Challenge (IWC) competition. In his spare time he loves nothing more than sipping a glass of Rioja while spinning a vinyl LP following a lengthy dog walk over Selsley common.

Christy Davidson

Christy joined us in 2023. After 10 years in the trade from Brighton to Bristol, he's finally back in his home town and has brought with him masses of experience in natural wines, niche whiskies and an eclectic mix of beers and ciders.  He is a keen amateur cook, who loves to make food for friends, family and most importantly, himself. But if he’s not in the kitchen, you’ll likely find him getting ‘radical’ on his mountain bike in the many woods and hills of Stroud and the surrounding area.

Griffin Mill, Thrupp

In 2023 we opened our second shop and tasting room at Griffin Mill View on Google Maps

We've got loads more space here so it's stuffed full of the same great wines, and lots more beer.  We have parking right outside but it's also a lovely walk along the canal from town.

We hold regular tastings and pop-ups here, usually on Friday nights. You can also book private wine tastings for groups of 6-15 people throughout the week.
