Holden Manz Visionaire

£18.95 £16.95
Add to basket

Winemaker Thierry Haberer has been making wines around the world for over a decade. He has spent time working in Bordeaux and Napa Valley in the USA before settling at the Holden Manz Wine Estate in Franschhoek Valley, one of South Africa’s premiere winemaking regions. The estate boasts 22 hectares of exclusively red grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.

This multi award winning wine is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Malbec. This is a big, bold spicy beast of a wine that has more than a whiff of top end Bordeaux and Hermitage about it. Ripe black fruit , liquorice and leather on the nose and palate; the fruit dominates but well balanced acidity and tannin are very much in the mix. A peppery spicy finish is particularly satisfying.

Make no bones about it, this is a wine that demands – not asks – demands to be paired with the reddest of red meats.

Moorooduc Estate Pinot Gris

£24.95 £21.95
Add to basket

Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate is a small, family run wine business that has developed an enviable reputation for complex and food friendly wines.  Their wines are fermented using only wild yeasts (found on the skin of the grape and in the air) and minimal intervention to allow them to express the character of the individual vineyard sites.

This Pinot Gris from two Moorooduc vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula has subtle hints of citrus fruits,  pineapple and baked pear on the nose and palate. The wild yeast fermentation of unsettled juice in (older) French oak barrels gives the wine a very long and satisfying finish. We absolutely love this.

Pair with any grilled or seared flaky fish dishes, risottos & creamy cheese based dishes.
