Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa. The wine shows bright intense red fruit on the nose displaying lots of red berries. The palate is warm and full-bodied with harmonious acidity and smooth and elegant tannins.
The estate was created in the 60’s in Chateau-Thierry, by Robert L’ete and Lillian Vautrin, his wife. They combined their surnames to create the brand. At first floral, the bouquet centres on elegant notes of rose. It then becomes more complex with aromas of fresh grapes and small red fruits. Very fruity, with hints of strawberry and raspberry.

The only Gin incorporating 30 apple varieties and 8 different aromatics. Each aromatic is separately distilled before being blended in proportions that are unique to each batch. Due to Listrac’s cooler temperatures, Yves Raymond looks to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, rather than Cabernet Sauvignon as the essence of his wines in order to help them achieve optimum ripeness. The botanicals they forage for Hibernation Gin are influenced by the wild fruit harvest. They include wild crab apples, blackberries, and bilberries.
They combine these with carefully selected classic, and other locally-foraged botanicals, and precision-distil, before resting in a very rare White Port cask.
They believe this is the world’s first gin to be aged in a fully-seasoned White Port barrel, which is provided by their friends at Niepoort Vinhos. We also stock their wines and ports in our shop!
