South America, beyond Malbec. Friday 25th September @ 7pm. Griffin Mill
South America, beyond Malbec brings Laurie Webster of Ucopia Wines to Stroud for an evening that looks past the continents famous flagship grape. Laurie will guide guests through the regions, altitudes and winemakers reshaping Argentina’s identity, showing how varieties such as Criolla, Petit Verdot and Torrontes are driving a new wave of characterful, site‑focused wines. Then we will move to Uruguay to taste the Tannat and Albarino from the wonderful Vino Progresso winery.
Laurie has specialised in South American wine since 2008, first with Las Bodegas, then since 2021 through his own business, Ucopia Wines. Ucopia is the UK’s leading importer of top-quality wines from Argentina, working with small to medium-sized wineries.

Blank Bottle Tasting, Friday 30th October. 7pm @ Griffin Mill
We’ve been raving about Blank Bottle wines for a long time now, and they have been amongst our best selling wines for years. For those of you that have tried any of Pieter Walser’s wines, then this is a chance to sample more of the range, and also to hear the stories about the wine. If you don’t know them, then this is definitely not to be missed! Hosted by Francesa Addis, this is going to be a fantastic evening tasting through 6 of Pieter’s wines.
Curious, unconventional and fiercely independent, Pieter has built BlankBottle around one simple philosophy: make the wines he wants to make, free from recipes, expectations or marketing trends. Every wine tells a story, and every label has one too – often inspired by a chance encounter, a forgotten vineyard, or an idea that simply refused to leave him alone.
Rather than owning a single estate, BlankBottle is a collection of remarkable vineyards scattered across South Africa’s finest regions. Pieter works closely with growers to source fruit from old vines and exceptional sites, crafting small-batch wines that express both place and personality. The result is a portfolio unlike any other: adventurous, thought-provoking wines that range from elegant, site-driven classics to daring blends and varieties you won’t find anywhere else. No two vintages – or often even two wines – are quite the same.
Pieter embraces experimentation, constantly exploring new vineyards, varieties and winemaking approaches, while remaining uncompromising in his pursuit of quality. Production is limited, demand is high, and many wines are released only once!
