Holden Manz Proprietors Blend White
Winemaker Thierry Haberer has been making wines around the world for over a decade. He has spent time working in Bordeaux and Napa Valley in the USA before settling at the Holden Manz Wine Estate in Franschhoek Valley, one of South Africa’s premiere winemaking regions. The estate boasts 22 hectares of exclusively red grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
The grapes for this white blend (40% Viognier, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Chenin Blanc) were hand selected from a variety of locations in Somerset West, Stellenbosch, Wellington and Paarl. They combine magnificently to produce a beautifully rounded, full bodied and well balanced wine. A bright, flinty nose with lime, green apples, tangerine and honeysuckle. The wine has had 12 month’s lees contact, adding creaminess and complexity. Absolutely sublime.
We love this wine with seared tuna steaks, tempura prawns with sweet chilli dipping sauce and mushroom wellington.
Distant Noises Cabernet Sauvignon
The fruit for this wine is sourced from Yarra Valley, south eastern Australia. It features the classic hallmarks of Cabernet Sauvignon; blackberries, blackcurrant on the nose and palate with aromas of blackcurrant intermingling with wood notes and cedar on the nose. Supremely drinkable at a refreshingly restrained 13% alcohol. We are big fans of this wine, a superb example of finesse and quality over the usual syruppy fruit bombs New World wines often produce. If you are a fan of mid-range Bordeaux, this is well worth a whirl. Delicious!
Pair with cured meats, mezze or paprika based dishes.

Marta Soares is the pioneering wine maker at Casal Figueria, a project started by her late husband, Antonio. Having trained at top wineries in Napa Valley, Bordeaux and Australia, he’s settled in Portugal making great wines in largely forgotton territories with indiginous grapes.
Translating as ‘Touriga in the nude’, this is 100% Touriga Nacional grapes; unoaked to allow an abundudance of bright red fruits to shine – raspberry and redcurrant dominate the nose and palate. This is a big, bold and complex wine that is utterly delicious.

Catalpa Malbec
Fruit for this quite stunning Malbec comes from the very special sub-district of La Consulta in the Uco Valley at 1,200 metres above sea level, from vines more than 70 years old.
