Steeped in a history dating back to 1692, the Lanzerac Wine Estate is situated at the foot of the majestic Jonkershoek Valley of Stellenbosch. This Merlot is a well balanced wine with flavours of ripe red berries, chocolate and undertones of mint on the nose. Rich and velvety soft.
Gladstone Vineyard has an established reputation as a quality boutique wine producer, making award-winning wines of finesse and complexity. The vineyards are planted along the river terraces of the Ruamahanga River, which has a unique free-draining soil profile of clay over stony silt loams. The microclimatic conditions are semi-maritime, which experiences very cool springs, extended sunshine hours and high exposure to UV light, which provides ideal conditions for ripening.
Ancient vines, hand picked and 100% foot trodden and fermented in the circular granite lagares at Vale de Mendiz. This wine ages 4-6 years in large old oak vats (opposed to Vintage, that ages 2-3 years). LBV fills the gap between the rubies and the vintage ports since a Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 15 to 20 years to really open up and show its splendour.
Absolutely fantastic Chardonnay from a brilliant producer. A must-try for any Burgundy lover, the clay-rich soils of Bernouil give this wine its freshness, minerality and fruit-forward flavours. This is a light, fruity, easy-drinking wine. Such good value for money!
Located just outside the quiet village of Valiano di Montepulciano, with Cortona on one side and Montepulciano on the other, Avignonesi is comprised of 9 vineyard plots, a villa, a chapel and the historic wine cellars. This is fruit forward, easy drinking and accessible. A fantastic option for an everyday bottle. Cherries, blackberries, thyme, red pepper and exotic spices.
An intense hit of cherry and dark plum is balanced with alluring floral and earthy nuances. Chocolate, coffee and oak combine beautifully with the plush juiciness of this wine to deliver a round and generous palate and silky textural finish. Drink now, or cellar for up to 10 years.
A classic white Burgundy with lemon and peach notes and a creamy texture.
A very approachable Pinot Noir, lots of character in red berries and great value!
This is a damn fine Chardonnay and an amazing price for this quality. Flametree aim to produce brilliant uncompromising Aussie wines, handcrafted wines with unique flavour, structure and depth. Citrus and floral notes with some grapefruit aromas, subtle French oak.
The Prieto Picudo grapes are harvested from vines which are 20 years and 70 years old. This wine spends six months in used French oak barriques, resulting in a wine that is elegant and infused with wild black fruit. This is a fresh, lively, transparent expression of what Prieto Picudo can be.
Stunning and amazing value fizz from South Africa. Made in the traditional ‘Champagne’ method, this wine is quite fruit driven with peach and citrus at the forefront, some toasted nuts character complements the stone fruits and creamy biscuit flavours. A wine for all occasions!
Claude Maréchal makes his wines as naturally as possible, pure and sleek with vibrant fruit and great potential to age. Rich and creamy with a crisp freshness underpinning this fantastic wine.
From a beautiful little bush vine site planted in pure rugged schist on the Riebeeck mountain in the Swartland. Tiny quantities made – just 3 barrels! This is a big wine, but a very well-balanced mouthful. Soft, juicy, rounded and loaded with fresh blackberries and compote, blueberries, baking spice, candied fruits and a kiss of vanilla. A gorgeous, rounded mouthful, but with high acidity that makes your mouth water and makes it so very appealing.
Niepoort’s Crusted bottling is based on some of the highest quality ports from a range of vintage harvests. 100% foot trodden and granite-fermented fruit, often ports that were originally destined for Vintage Port. This is amazing with Cheddar, Stilton, or even chocolate!
The estate was created in the 60’s in Chateau-Thierry, by Robert L’ete and Lillian Vautrin, his wife. They combined their surnames to create the brand. At first floral, the bouquet centres on elegant notes of rose. It then becomes more complex with aromas of fresh grapes and small red fruits. Very fruity, with hints of strawberry and raspberry.
A seasonal gin made with damsons foraged from the Cornish coast. Infused with Star Anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and orange to balance the sweetness of the fruit and create a warming, slightly spicy gin liqueur. Drink neat with a cheeseboard or top it up with sparkling wine for a winters cocktail.
