At Beira Interior the wines have the influence of the altitude. Surrounded by the Estrela, Marofa and Malcata mountains, the vineyards reach over 750 meters. The main benefit of altitude viticulture is due to the cooler climate, allowing increasing acidity levels, which are achieved thanks to the thermal amplitude between day and night. The cool nights lead to slower and more uniform ripeness of the grape, enhancing the concentration of aromas and flavours. During the day, the greater radiation due to the proximity of the sun helps the photosynthesis, gaining in terms of colour and with a more balanced alcoholic level.
The soul of this wine lies in the unique combination of the Síria and Fonte Cal native grape varieties, from old vines planted in granite and schist soils with quartz veins, in the Douro River’s hydrographical basin, at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level.
Enjoy with lamb dishes, appetizers, cheeses, pastas and Mediterranean cuisine.
