Chateau Peyros, Madiran
£19.95
Madiran is a glorious hidden corner of south west France with lush, rolling hillsides and glimpses of the snow peaked high Pyrenees around every corner. Situated just over an hour’s drive from Bordeaux, it is pretty accessible and deserves greater recognition.
Château Peyros has been owned by the Lesgourgues family since 1999 and there has been significant investment in the vineyards and the cellar. There are seventeen hectares of vines, mainly planted with Tannat, together with some Cabernet Franc. The soils are silty clay and full of large stones deposited by mountain glaciers (Peyros means stony in Gascon).
Silky and stylish. The deep texture and tannins from the Tannat are beautifully balanced with the floral notes and delicacy from the Cabernet Franc.
