Eenzaamheid Shiraz
£27.95
Eenzaamheid is situated in the Agter-Paarl area of South Africa’s Western Cape province. The name of the farm is Dutch for “solitude”, and refers to its isolation from Cape Town, when it was named in 1693. Janno Briers-Louw, 7th generation farmer, produces award winning, handcrafted wines from the old dryland vineyards.
This Shiraz has aromas of white pepper, mixed spices and charcuterie, which are further complemented by aromatic scents of raspberry, blueberry and hedgerow fruits. The palate entry is utterly refined, with fine, granular tannins adding beautiful “behind-the-scenes” support for the bold black and red fruit. The oak is well integrated and allows the fruit to take centre stage, and the wine has sufficient acidity to keep all the elements in check and in balance. Enjoy with lamb shank.
