Weingut Hanewald-Schwerdt Chardonnay
£13.95
The family owned and operated estate Hanewald-Schwerdt was founded in 1955 in Leistadt. Today cousins, Thomas Hanewald & Stephan Schwerdt look after the family buisness which was established by their grandfather. The secret of their handcrafted wines is a unique limestone reef which dominates all the sites arround Leistadt. The vines are old and surrounded by a protected natural resort in the shade of the Haardt mountains.
A fruity, elegant Chardonnay with citrus aromas and hints of melon and vanilla spice. Juicy with good structure and subtle acidity that makes it very refreshing and a great accompaniment to seafood dishes, especially brook trout Müllerin.

Description
Hanewald-Schwerdt is a partnership between Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt who have taken over the running of their family winery. Thomas and Stephan are members of ‘Generation Riesling’ a body made up of the best young winemaking talent in Germany. Their focus is on dry wines, primarily made from Riesling and Pinot Noir that express their vintage and vineyard. The entry level wines aim to show off pure varietal character, while the village wines are all hand picked from individual soil types. The single vineyard wines demonstrate the highest levels of quality that each site and variety can produce.
