Lionel Osmin Fer de Soif Marcillac
£18.95
Lionel Osmin’s Fer de Soif comes from Marcillac, a small Aveyron appellation tucked into the hills north‑east of Cahors. Vines have been grown here since the Middle Ages, on slopes of red iron‑rich clay that give the local grape—Fer Servadou—its name and its bite. Osmin works with old parcels of this variety to capture Marcillac’s brisk, savoury style.
The wine is lifted and vivid: redcurrant, sour cherry and a touch of pepper, with the grape’s natural crunch keeping everything taut. Light in body but full of character, it’s a superb example of one of southwest France’s most distinctive grapes.
