Lyrarakis Assyrtiko
£16.95
“Lyrarakis” is the family name of brothers Manolis and Sotiris, who established the winery on the island of Crete, Greece in 1966. Today, Lyrarakis Wines is run by the second-generation winemakers, supported by an extended family of skilled professionals. As sustainability advocates, they transitioned to organic viticulture in 2020 and a significant percentage of their cooperating farmers managed to do the same.
The vines are dry farmed and never ploughed and they only use their own fertilizer made of organic waste from their kitchen, the winemaking process, and the nearby oil mills. This Assyrtiko has aromas of citrus, white fruit, ripe peach and hints of fresh green herbs. A crisp salty freshness and a long mineral finish.
