Niepoort’s work in the Douro is shaped by the same steep terraces and fractured schist that define their Ports, but Vertente Tinto shows how those sites translate into a fresher, more agile table wine. The fruit comes mainly from older vineyards in the Cima Corgo, where altitude and mixed field blends help temper the region’s heat. That combination of elevation, poor soils, and traditional plantings gives Vertente its balance: concentrated Douro fruit without heaviness.
