Ramilo Branco
£18.95
A bright, Atlantic‑influenced white from the hills of Colares and Almoçageme, just northwest of Lisbon. The vineyards sit close to the ocean, where constant breezes, cool nights, and sandy or limestone‑rich soils keep ripening slow and acidity naturally high. This coastal geography is central to the wine’s character: freshness, salinity, and clean fruit rather than weight.
The Ramilo family farms with a low‑intervention, sustainable approach, avoiding herbicides and working the soils to keep the old vines healthy. Parcels are harvested by hand, often in multiple passes to pick each variety at the right moment. In the cellar, the fruit is handled gently, fermented with native yeasts, and kept free of unnecessary additions to preserve the clarity of the blend.
The wine is crisp and expressive, showing citrus, green apple, and light stone‑fruit notes over a subtle saline edge. It’s lean but not austere, finishing clean and mineral with the Atlantic freshness that defines the region
