La Soumade is a fantastic organic producer based in Rasteau in the Southern Rhone Valley. Their Côtes du Rhône red belies both its lowly appellation status and its very friendly price tag. It’s generous, medium to full-bodied, with a dash of black pepper from the portion of Syrah, but led by Grenache giving dark plum and liquorice leading to juicy red fruit.

A great pairing for rich meat dishes and rustic braised and stewed dishes such as lamb.
