Don’t want to fork out for the full size bottle – this perfect for a couple of glasses of a top notch Oregon pinot noir.
Site, soil, and clone carefully matched vine selections resulting in three distinct expressions of Pinot Noir from a very special place. Yields at Luminous HIlls Vineyard are managed to a minimum to ensure the highest quality fruit.
The sixth vintage of this release, the 2015 wine is the first to be sourced from the Luminous Hills vineyard in Oregon. Aged in French oak for two years and then fortified with brandy from Pinot Noir grapes, this is ultimately a Pinot Noir. A sort-of Port, with tawny characteristics and richness, it pairs well with cheese, chocolate and also fruit or cream based pastries – creme brulee or even an eclair!
The selection for this blend is just three select barrels, one new French oak barrel (made from the Tronçais forest, matched to the characteristics of the vineyard) and two neutral French oak barrels, giving weight and balance to the blend. 75 cases produced. Some of the highest quality Chardonnay in Oregon.
A selection of barrels from across the vineyard: both volcanic and sedimentary soils of varying elevations, from southwest to southeast. The result of the careful selection of barrels and unique qualities of the vintage is a wine with impeccable balance and range, fruit and spice, power and depth, elegance and grace.
A single vineyard blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane & Mataro (Mourvedre). Pepper and raspberry aromas leading into dark plum and blackberry flavours with a hint of cocoa. Dry with chalky tannins and a lingering finish. This is excellent now but will gain complexity over the next 10-15 years too.
The Hoopes Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of fruit from a rich variety of sites which represent the complex tapestry of Napa terroir. Sublime balance, intense aromas and luscious textures that bring the diverse valley into harmony in a glass.
Flavours of strawberry jam, oak, creamy milk chocolate. Enjoy with a cheese plate.
From this iconic Californian vineyard comes possibly its most sought after wine, and from a truly exceptional vintage that will likely rank as one of the all-time greats from this producer. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc rounding out the last 4%, the majority of which has been aged in new American oak. Full-bodied and showing immense power, with incredible concentration that will certainly benefit from extended cellaring, some critics suggesting up to 60 years, though it will still bring pleasure to the drinker even now. In its youth, it shows notes of fresh plum, crème de cassis, black truffle, graphite, chocolate, and chalky minerality, with its firm yet ripe tannins and freshness indicating its ageing ability.
