Site, soil, and clone carefully matched vine selections resulting in three distinct expressions of Pinot Noir from a very special place. Yields at Luminous HIlls Vineyard are managed to a minimum to ensure the highest quality fruit.
The sixth vintage of this release, the 2015 wine is the first to be sourced from the Luminous Hills vineyard in Oregon. Aged in French oak for two years and then fortified with brandy from Pinot Noir grapes, this is ultimately a Pinot Noir. A sort-of Port, with tawny characteristics and richness, it pairs well with cheese, chocolate and also fruit or cream based pastries – creme brulee or even an eclair!
This bright and lively wine encompass both stone fruit and tropical notes with aromas of peaches and tangerine with hints of daffodils and lemongrass. Mouthwatering flavors of both apricot and lime zest integrate with fleshy nectarine, peach pit, bees wax all punctuated with a crisp mineral finish.
Aromas of apple blossoms, poached pear and hints of spicy oak. Pear continues through to the palate with stone fruits and some citrus notes. Medium bodied with a creamy finish. Pairs well with earthy ingredients such as roasted artichokes and butternut squash.
The selection for this blend is just three select barrels, one new French oak barrel (made from the Tronçais forest, matched to the characteristics of the vineyard) and two neutral French oak barrels, giving weight and balance to the blend. 75 cases produced. Some of the highest quality Chardonnay in Oregon.
Eshcol was the original name of the Trefethen Estate in Napa Valley, first planted in the 1800’s. The wines made there helped establish Napa’s early reputation for quality wines. A Bordeaux-style blend with bold fruit aromas, leading to bright blackberry and cherry on the palate. A balanced wine, great for any occasion from a barbeque to pizza night.

The result of the careful selection of barrels and unique qualities of the vintage is a wine with impeccable balance and range, fruit and spice, power and depth, elegance and grace.

A single vineyard blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane & Mataro (Mourvedre). Pepper and raspberry aromas leading into dark plum and blackberry flavours with a hint of cocoa. Dry with chalky tannins and a lingering finish. This is excellent now but will gain complexity over the next 10-15 years too.
