Their organically farmed estate sits in an extraordinary location; straddling the Loire Valley across five distinct appellations.
The Savennières AOC is situated just south of Angers, the historical capital of Anjou. Its 370-planted acres stretch across southern-exposed slopes on the right bank of the Loire River. Savennières’ shallow soils are comprised of well-drained sandstone schist, volcanic rock (rhyolite) and aeolian sand, which allow for excellent drainage, slight cluster dehydration and resulting concentrated fruit flavours in the trademark Chenin Blanc.

These vineyards are tranquil places, full of fruit trees dotted amongst the vines which attract and offer shelter to local wildlife. This symbiotic relationship helps maintain the health and balance of their land. The steep vineyards means the harvest is carried out by hand, allowing the pickers to be very selective and gentle in choosing the healthiest fruit to ensure that the resulting wine is always of the highest quality.

The palate is pure and linear, with wonderful tension, leading to a pleasant round fullness with hints of white pears. The very mineral, almost saline finish is very typical of the limestone terroirs of the Mâconnais area. This is a very pure and expressive wine. We love it!

Raffaele Catania started making Gulfi wines in the 70’s, at this stage just Nerojbleo grown on the Ibleo mountains. In 1995 Raffaele’s son Vito took over, with a vision to expand their offerings and make the best Nero d’Avola wines available. Three generations of knowledge, experience and winemaking traditions have now been passed down through the Catania family.
This is just stunning. Peach, flint, hazelnut flavours with a salty minerality. The Carricante grapes are hand-harvested in Pachino on the far south of Sicily. Aged on the lees for 12 months before bottling.

Located in the highest part of the Cigliano area, Cigliano di Sopra is a historic estate dating back to 1300. The estate is family-run with the utmost respect for nature and for their historic buildings. All the wines are produced with grapes from their own vineyards and are hand-harvested.
Violets, lavender and fresh red fruit. Wonderfully crunchy and pure, but by no means simple. You can really feel the ageing potential thanks to this depth flavour of sour cherry. The tannins and acidity are firm, and It respects the idea of Chianti Classico, but really, we’re almost in Riserva territory here given the attention to detail here, but they only produce one label. As winemaker Matteo shared “the idea we had when we started making Chianti Classico is simple. We want a wine that’s ready to drink. It should be on the table after a year and a half, but at the same time, this 2021 will definitely show its best in 5 or 6 years.”
