The grapes for this wine are grown on red slate soils which is completely unique to Mosel. This type of soil produces a softer, rounder structure with a distinctive minerality and aromas of red fruits. Flavours of apples and hints of citrus, with some honeyed spice on the finish.
The dry style of the wine is ideal for classic continental cuisine.

Coeur de Raisin Domaine Gramiller (No added SO2)
It’s all about the fruit! This no added SO2 bottling is a blend of Alicante and and Grenache. Positively summer pudding in a glass! Explosive fruit – berries and cherries and floral notes too, hints of orange zest and violets and tea soaked fruit. Don’t be fooled by the wine’s deep purple colour, it’s juicy, fresh, with just a hint of herbs and light tannins.
Hanewald Schwerdt Monkey Morio Muskat
Cousins Thomas Hanewald and Stephen Schwerdt took over the business founded by their grandfather, they focus on Riesling and Pinot Noir, but also produce this rare variety, Morio Muskat. It is absolutely fabulous, with a perfumed, grapey nose with elderflower, apple and hints of pineapple.
The name comes from the discovery of a cuddly monkey found lost in the vineyard. It was tied to the end of the row of vines in case someone should return for it, but there it stayed.
DelMoro La Comarcal
A tiny vineyard located in Valencia, specilaising in Garnacha, Bobal and Syrah.
This wine is fairly light in style, with pronounced notes of wild herbs and peppery spice, on a bed of crunchy red berry fruit and a touch of grippy tannins. Rustic, natural and great value.

The farm was born in 1981, in the area between Alanno, Cugnoli and Pietranico, in the province of Pescara. This hilly landscape is almost totally devoted to vineyards and the local grapes, such as Montepulciano, Passerina and the once-endangered but now thriving Pecorino.
Sivipa Moscatel De Setubal
SIVIPA is the company name for all the wines produced by the Cordoso family, the vineyards are distributed between siblings and cousins as inheritance from previous generations. The main winery, Quinta do Piloto is in Palmela and is one of the only few producing Moscatel Roxo as a varietal wine.
Described as an entry-level fortified wine but this is so much more. There’s dried fruit, caramel, spices, florals and especially citrus orange peel. Sensational wine!

An intense, ultra-concentrated dessert wine made from hand-selected grapes that have been shrivelled about halfway to raisins by botrytis (the “Noble Rot”). Early arriving botrytis in this year – 2017 – means this is a bright, refreshing style of dessert wine with green apple, white peach and lemon flavours. It’s rich and intense with superb racy acidity. This will age for another couple of years, best drunk from now until 2025.
Woodchester Valley Culver Hill
Woodchester Valley is a family owned boutique winery located just 10 minutes from the centre of Stroud. With three vineyards dotted around the area, they produce white, rose, sparkling and red wines. Grapes for this blend are grown on the Amberley vineyard on Culver Hill, hence the name.
Barrel fermented Ortega brings creaminess to a crisp palate of gooseberry, cut grass, green apple and citrus fruits. there’s some peach and lemon on the nose from the addition of Solaris this year and the minerality comes from the limestone soils in the vineyard. A real food wine that is a great accompaniment to mussels or any chicken dish.
Holden Manz Chenin Blanc
Winemaker Thierry Haberer has been making wines around the world for over a decade. He has spent time working in Bordeaux and Napa Valley in the USA before settling at the Holden Manz Wine Estate in Franschhoek Valley, one of South Africa’s premiere winemaking regions. The estate boasts 22 hectares of exclusively red grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
Featuring a nose and palate of peach, melon and quince along with buttered broche and honey on the finish from a judicious use of oak, this Chenin Blanc is rich and utterly charming.

Domaine Yves Cuilleron Syrah
A top star domaine. Yves Cuilleron took over the reins as the 4th generation vigneron in 1987. He is based in Chavanay, just south of Condrieu and has built up a formidable reputation in recent years.
A pleasant and aromatic wine. Pretty fresh red fruits and delicate spices give a beautiful expression of syrah.
Quinta dos Roques Tinto
The leading (small) estate in the Dao revolution. At around 450m, Quinta dos Roques lies in the Dao heartland, just outside Abrunhosa do Mato.
Luis and Luisa Lourenco lead this family estate, producing a wide array of meticulously assembled wines, where both traditional blending, and varietal offerings both excel. The Touriga Nacional here is often cited as Portugal’s finest, while Quinta dos Roques Encruzado is regularly rated as one of the country’s leading dry white wines.
Here we have the classic red from this prestigious Dao estate. Touriga makes up about half the blend, with other varietals also from block-planted vineyards at the property. Aged in French oak for 10 months. That Touriga component contributes the mulberry fruit character which characterises Roques Tinto, but as with classic Dao blends, this is more than a sum of its parts.
Echeverria GCM Coast
Enticing aromas of forest fruits, cherry, raspberry and mulberry are laced with vanilla and tobacco nuances through to a rounded palate with a fine tannin structure and a persistent fruity finish.
Pheasant’s Tears Madlieri Red
Georgian law dictates that when red and white grapes are blended, the resulting wine must be labelled as rose. We’re going for a (light) red in this instance… there is a deep colour typical of the inky Saperavi grape, working in tandem with pronounced aromatics from the Mtsvane. Flavours of blueberries and dark currants, velvety texture with a hint of bitter chocolate and nice defined tannins.
Celler del Roure Cullerot
Tucked behind the Serra Grossa, at the top of the Alrorins-Alcusses valley, is the rural idyl of Celler del Roure, an estate developed by Pablo Calatuyud and his father to shine a light on a more ancient and authentic style of Valencian wine and away from the bulk production the area was becoming more recognized for. His intention to rehabilitate long-forgotten grapes such as Mando, Arcos and Verdil was solidified with the discovery of a 500-year-old cellar on the mountainside property, with subterranean clay amphoras ‘tinajas’ in near perfect condition.
Aged in Tinijas shows the fresh and complex flavours of this wine. Ripe tangerines from the Verdil, sweet spice from the PX, balanced with fresh and mouth watering citrus, melon and a touch of biscuit from the Chardonnay and Macabeo. Finishing with a rich and creamy mouth feel that makes this wine a true show case of its style.
Tschida Merlot Spätlese
Showing a vibrant salmon pink in colour, really attractive nose of wild strawberries, sour cherry, rhubarb and some herbaceous notes. Sweet but lifted palate of red fruits and a hint of spice. Really energetic and fresh for a dessert wine with persistent length.
Great with salty hard cheeses as well as blue and both fruit-driven puddings and chocolate desserts. A very versatile dessert wine.
Gabbas Cannonau Di Sardegna ‘Lillove’
Cannonau is the Sardinian name given to Grenache. An elegant nose with a fragrant bouquet of fresh raspberries, geraniums and violets. Medium in body, with soft tannins and a hint of white pepper on the palate.
Baglio Bianco Catarrato
If you are not familiar with orange wines, then this is a great place to start! This little Sicilian wine offers all of the characteristics of natural, orange wine, rich, pithy fruit character, savoury herbs, ginger and spices. Ideal for curries and classic Sicilian dishes.
Petritis
The Xynisteri variety, pronounced (Sin-ees-ter-ee), is a native grape to the island. These indigenous grapes are grown on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains, in some of the highest vineyards in Europe.
Delicious aromas of citrus fruits, candied lime, lychee and a touch of spice and vanilla. A medium bodied yet refreshing wine with a long, creamy finish.

Barbeito Rainwater 5 Year Old Reserva Madeira

Barbeito are one of the smallest Madeira Wine producers, only founded in 1946 but have an extraordinary reputation. Ricardo, the founder’s grandson took over in the ‘90’s, reinventing the traditional wines and techniques. He was the first to bottle Madeira wine without adding caramel and has also bottled from a single cask, which was once a traditional way.
Recreating the classic style of Rainwater, medium dry in character. Dried fruit, orange blossom and crystallized fruit aromas with a soft yet full bodied palate and a long minerally finish. An excellent aperitif, but also wonderful with French Onion Soup, Welsh Rarebit, cheeseboard, mushroom dishes, and game terrine.
Vina Kozlović, Teran
The Kozlović family have been making wine in the Istrian region of Croatia since 1904. The region borders Friuli and the wines, food and people have a real connection with their Italian neighbours. Winemaker Gianfranco is a perfectionist and he is constantly striving to improve his already brilliant wines.
Fresh aromas of red and black fruit complemented by hints of pepper and spices. There’s flavours of black cherries and plums but with a freshness that is typical of the indigenous variety. Medium bodied and dry, this wine can be enjoyed until 2025 with red meats, pasta in meat sauce and hard cheeses.
Woodchester Valley Pinot Rosé
An excellent dry rosé with ripe raspberry and strawberry flavours and a lingering finish.
Barbeito Malvasia 5 Year Old Reserva Madeira

Aromas of toasted almonds, honey and hints of smoke. Lightly caramelized fruits bring a freshness on the palate. A sweet wine, but with great balancing acidity. This really complements desserts with caramel, dried fruits and toffee.
Ktima Gerovassiliou, Estate White, Epanomi
Ktima Gerovassiliou is the brainchild of Evangelos Gerovassiliou. He initiated the revival of the family vineyard by planting the nearly extinct Malagousia in 1981. This wine shows expressive aromas of exotic fruits combined with hints of pepper, orange, jasmine, herbs and a touch of lemon. Beautifully refined on the palate which is characterised by richness, harmony and a bright lemony finish.
Cantina Andriano Pinot Grigio Alto Adige
Cantina Andriano was founded in 1893, which makes it one of the oldest cooperatives in Alto Adige. The village of Andrian is one of the three that can call their wines Terlaner Classico, a very famous wine in this part of the country.
Aromas of fruit in which the flavours of ripe, honeydew melons are particularly prominent; soft and full on the palate with a well balanced long finish.
Testalonga Baby Bandito Keep On Punching
A pure style of Chenin Blanc from nearly 50 year old vines that produce small clusters full of concentration and a high natural acidity. Lemon aromas and flavours with some peach, floral and flint notes. A very interesting wine for both lovers of natural wine and those new to the style.
A A Badenhorst Papegaai Dry Red
23 vineyards, one wine! Think violets, blackcurrant cordial, crushed rocks and with crunchy cranberry accented acids. Serve chilled and gulp heartily.
Made by Adi Badenhorst in Swartland, this has fast become one of our favourite wines! Why the parrot? As well as making amazing wine, Adi also has a sideline in breeding the endangered Cape Parrot as there are fewer than 1000 left in the wild. Also, some of the proceeds of this wine go to the Cape Parrot trust.
Daniel Ramos Vina Padre
A blend of grapes, mainly based on Rufete from Salamanca and Garnacha from Gredos, all small, high altitude, mountainous vineyards (up to 1000m!). Even including some white. As always with Daniel, this is a ‘hand-made’ wine, with no fining or filtration. Simply made in concrete vats and a portion in seasoned, oak.
The resultant wine is fleshy and juicy, with good tannic grip and texture. The flavours are pure and honest, with a real sense of wild, mountainous viticulture. Great freshness through a long finish.
Rioja Alavesa ‘Letras Minúsculas’
The wine is produced with grapes from plots: Laguilera, Iscorta and La Rueda, they are carefully selected and picked by hand.
A nice big Rioja, dominated by red fruits from the Garnacha along with raspberry and black liqourice from the Tempranillo. Letras Minúsculas is a powerful and complex wine, an explosion of fruit which offers soft tannins, yet firm enough to provide the wine with a good structure. The oak component is subtle and well integrated. Perfect with any meats and cheeses.
